Our gating strategy began with the elimination of doublets and dead cells using forward (FSC) and side scatter (SSC-A) (Fig. 1).We then selected CD45+ cells using SSC-A on the y-axis. Gates and regions are placed around populations of cells with common characteristics, usually forward scatter, side scatter and marker expression, to investigate and quantify these populations of interest.
