Light blue thermal pads cover VRAM and other chips around the Nvidia GPU (blue highlight circles), while a denser dark grey pad covers the Intel HM67 chipset (red highlight circle). I want to know: the type of pad and thickness of the light blue pads. They are relatively soft. WebNov 11, 2024 · Edinburgh. I experienced similar temperature issues with my Asus ROG Strix Z690-G. I am using all three NVMe slots and the 3090 covers half of the chipset heatsink. So probably worse case. From cold boot it immediately hits 50°C, after about 15 mins of just sitting idle in the BIOS it reaches 75°C. WebJul 24, 2024 · My Asus X570-F was passing 70C, but that was fixed with a new thermal pad - the linked X570-F you posted has the exact same cooler and issue. Asus cheaped out with a thin heatsink, easily blocked shroud and the worlds cheapest thermal pad that dries out in under 2 years. WebJul 4, 2024 · Chipset heatsink on that board is independent and shouldn't have much of any significant gap that needs to be filled. Even mediocre thermal paste should outperform high-end pads or gap fillers, unless there are stand-offs or spacers artificially increasing the size of the gap that must be filled.
